Sound View is an advanced audio spectrum analysis application designed for precise sound visualization. It captures audio input either through the device’s built-in microphone or an external microphone and provides real-time visual representations of both the raw input signal and its frequency spectrum. The lower section displays the waveform of the input sound, while the upper section illustrates the spectrum analysis via bar graphs that indicate the amplitude of various frequencies present in the signal.

The frequency range covered by this app extends from 0 Hz up to 96,000 Hz, contingent upon the capabilities of the connected hardware. Given that human hearing typically spans from approximately 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, this broad range offers detailed insights into both audible and ultrasonic sound frequencies. The sample rate is configured to be twice the maximum displayed frequency, meaning a sample rate of 48,000 samples per second enables visualization of frequencies up to 24,000 Hz.

The interface offers intuitive interaction options; double-tapping either the spectrum bars or the waveform view toggles between a full-screen display of that individual view and a combined view showing both. Both portrait and landscape orientations are supported for versatile use.

By tapping once on the screen, users can access additional controls through the Levels and Settings buttons. The Levels menu provides sliders to adjust both vertical and horizontal magnifications of the spectrum and waveform displays, facilitating detailed analysis.

Users can swipe across the spectrum display to examine specific frequency components. Adjusting the zoom slider narrows or broadens the visible frequency range, with leftward swipes allowing dynamic control over which frequencies are displayed within the scope.

At the top of the interface resides a decibel meter that quantifies signal strength in two units: dBFS (Decibels Full Scale) and dBSPL (Decibels Sound Pressure Level), offering comprehensive measurement metrics for sound analysis.
